This is deceptive, there is nothing Portuguese about this distellery other than the name. It’s neither Portuguese owned or has any Portuguese food. Its named after a section of coast near long Beach that was famous for alcohol smuggling. This section was named that because it was a California whaling encampment in the late 19th century. The majority of whaling ships were filled with Portuguese men primarily from the azores during that period.
