Police have identified the suspect in the deadly shooting at Brown University as Claudio Manuel Neves-Valente, 48, a Portuguese national whose last known address was in Miami, Florida, according to law enforcement sources. Authorities say Neves-Valente was a Brown University student.
Officials confirmed that the suspect was found dead Tuesday night in Salem, New Hampshire, after police located him at a storage facility. Investigators believe he died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The discovery followed an hours-long manhunt in which investigators tracked the suspect’s movements across state lines, including locating an abandoned vehicle and a storage unit linked to him. Authorities are also investigating a possible connection between the Brown University shooting and a separate killing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Police have not yet formally confirmed all details surrounding the suspect’s identity or the circumstances of his death. The investigation remains active, and officials say additional information will be released as it becomes available. A news conference is expected shortly.
